Perth Live Music – June Newsletter

Welcome again, live music lovers. I have to give a heartfelt thank you to Ellen Flanagan for helping me get this newsletter out this month. With all the gardening needing to be done, I didn’t think it was going to happen.
There is so much live music happening in our area it’s hard to make it to everything! Music helps us keep some balance in these crazy times. I know that I always feel better after attending live shows. I even put in one event this time that is mostly about art and gardening. It will bring you Joy! Many of our local musicians donate their talents to support local causes. I hope their events are successful and I know these community events are one of the things that make living in Perth and area so great. See you at the shows!

Save The Dates!

Art in the Garden
Kiwi Gardens, Glen Tay
June 14 -16
A weekend event showcasing 20+ artists works set amidst the lush beauty of Kiwi Gardens.

This is just a stunning event where you can stroll through the woods and gardens to see very unique plants and artwork. It had become a Father’s Day tradition. I don’t see music listed but in previous years there has been a band entertaining folks by the yummy concession with food in support of the Brooke Valley School.

Univox Choir
June 21, 2024, 8 PM
St Paul’s United Church

Univox Choir from Toronto returns this summer for “The Beauty of a Summer Night,” bringing vibrant and serene choral harmonies to life. Joining them again will be the St. Paul’s Choir, performing a mix of pieces that capture the essence of summer. Led by Artistic Director Malcolm Cody MacFarlane, Univox is a mixed-voice community choir for young adults, offering a cappella performances of diverse choral works.

I was fortunate to sing a few pieces with this talented group of singers last year. What a treat it was. A very unique and enriching choral experience.

Sherman Downey

Farmgate Cider,  Arnprior
Celebrate the Summer Solstice with the dance-y, swinging, east-coast tunes of Sherman Downey!

With his unique brand of radio-friendly folk and a natural ability for storytelling, Sherman Downey has solidified himself as one of Newfoundland & Labrador’s most treasured artists.

This show is a little further afield but Sherman is a favourite of mine and puts on a lovely show. What is it about Newfoundland performers that they are such a joy to see? Check him out if you get a chance.
